Field trip to the San Jacinto Monument
First Grade enjoyed their trip to The San Jacinto Monument on Monday, April 26, 2010. We want to thank our great parent volunteers for taking the time to drive and be with us on this trip. We learned a lot from watching the movie " Texas Forever!", seeing the uniforms, swords and arms used the the Battle of San Jacinto and all the wonderful pictures depicing the times. The collection of pioneer tools was especially interesting. Our picnic lunch beside the Battleship Texas was great. It was an interesting drive both to and from the monument. We could get a good look at all the activity on the ship channel from the toll bridge and from the ferry ride. We could even see downtown Houston form the top of the monument.
2/26/10 - Cowboy Round - Up Day
Cowboy Round-Up Day was great. We enjoyed dressing up as in western attire. We worked hard making our Line in the Sand Chili. It was very good and we ate all that was left after the judging! We didn't win, but our chili was really, really good!
Field trip to Humble Museum
On Tuesday, February 23 First Grade took a field trip to the Humble Museum, followed by a Manners Lunch at the Humble City Café. This was a great field trip! We saw many of the pioneering tools we have been reading about in our journals. The replica of the battle of the Alamo was fantastic.! It was built by a Cub Scout Pack in the 1980's. We saw a pioneer kitchen, toys and early business related items. Our lunch was great also. We were able to practice our "Holy Trinity Manners" and the rules Dr. Ellisor has been talking to us about in chapel.
Service Project Trip to Silverado
On Thursday, December 17th, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders went to Silverado retirement home to sing Christmas carols and visit with the residnets. We have been practiced very hard. It was a very rewarding experience for students, parents, teachers and residents. Our goal is to bring smiles to the residents' faces was achieved.
